Barefoot Software began life as Network Business Systems, founded in 1992. At that time, it was a sole proprietorship. Many of the clients and employees from those early days are still with us today.

The Barefoot Software name was coined by longtime friend of the company Rob Goldheim. When we decided to incorporate, we went looking for a new name. Something that didn't sound stodgy and boring. Something that expressed our creativity as programmers. Something that could NOT be bundled into a TLA. Rob came up with the perfect name, and we were officially incorporated and christened Barefoot Software on April Fool's Day, 1994.

At Barefoot, we recognize programming as a creative endeavor. We don't recycle the same old solutions over and over again. And we want our name to reflect that. Like a graphics design firm or a special effects company, creative minds need a creative name to represent them.

That little guy up there in the corner is Gilbert. He's Barefoot Software's ambassador to the world. Gilbert was originally design ed by Roger Holmes, our Director of Graphics Arts from 1993 - 1995. At first, Gilbert was just a computer with legs. Then he got a rms, and once he acquired a face, he really began to have a personality.

Our slogan, Tomorrow's Solutions Today!, was coined by our company's very first employee, Erik Wenberg. We had been looking for so mething to put on the company's business cards our printer advised us that any good business card has to have a motto and Erik just came in one day and wrote it on the board.

Our slogan says, very simply, that we are forward thinkers. And that we deliver solutions, not just programs. And that we do it on time. All that in three words. Nice job, Erik.
